Bailey Volleyball Helps A Friend In Need Bailey Middle School Volleyball helped again when the need arose. A student's home in a nearby neighborhood burned. The whole school mobilized to help the family with food, clothing, and shelter. The Volleyball Team wanted to help the younger daughter in elementary school. The fire burned all of her birthday presents. The team rallied and gathered new presents for the little girl. Thanks to them she had new dolls, Disney music CD's, clothes, and more to help her have a Happy Birthday! Bailey Volleyball Serve-A-Thon 2007 Our players and coaches raised $380 The girls voted unanimously to donate to Operation Helmet. Bailey Middle School Volleyball Raises Money For Troops The Bailey Middle School Volleyball Team held a season-long
charity fundraiser called the Bailey Serve-a-Thon. Players collected pledges for
promising to complete 500 serves in practices over the course of the season.
After the funds were collected, the players voted on the charity they wanted to
help.
The girls chose Operation Helmet - www.operation-helmet.org - based in Montgomery, to receive the $380 raised. Operation Helmet is a non-profit organization that purchases and sends helmet pad upgrade kits to soldiers in harm’s way. These kits drastically reduce possible head injury due to concussion blasts from grenades and mines. Soldiers must buy these kits on their own or get help from organizations such as Operation Helmet. Bob Meador, founder and director of the charity, had this message for the team. “Your girls' efforts reflect the very best in America's upcoming leaders. Instead of passively waiting for government to take care of a problem, they stood up and helped get it done personally.” The team’s donation will help buy pad kits for four soldiers. Bailey Volleyball would especially like to thank the members of the Texas Fishing Forum for their generous donations to our fund raiser. The members of this online forum come from all over the state of Texas. Members did not hesitate to send money when they heard about what we were doing. Over $150 of the money raised came from TFF members. |
