My Gear

I have to fish on a budget! I try to get the very best equipment I can find and still be able to pay my bills, feed and clothe my kids, and not make my wife divorce me!

  • Rods - I have a few different ones, but the main ones I am using right now are: Texas Sidewinder Rods 6'10" Spiral Wrap (for soft plastics) American Rodsmiths 6'6" David Fritts Crankin' Stick (for almost any type of fishing) Berkely 6' Cherrywood Rod (for spinner baits). I sometimes use a spinning reel and the rod for that is a 6' Ugly Stick.

  • Reels - My baitcasting reels are all Shimano Callisto and my spinning reels are Shimano Sahara. These are not their top of the line reels, but they are very good and affordable.

  • Line - Trilene XL

  • Paddle - Seasense 84" 3-position paddle w/ hand grips. This is a great paddle that won't wreck your budget. Sometimes I use a Carlisle "Magic" if I want a little longer paddle.
